US News December

Dear Upper School Families,

I have been so impressed with the faculty/staff and students while filling in for Mrs. Kolakowski. It has been my honor and pleasure. Thank you for your kindness and support.

This is a busy and beautiful time of the year. In two weeks, we will enjoy another break and celebrate Christmas —what an amazing time! Also, December marks the halfway point of the academic year. I will ask each student to use a small portion of Christmas Break to reflect and make adjustments for the second half of the school year. The goal is to improve and strive for behavioral, academic, artistic, and athletic excellence.

Things to consider:

  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Sleeping, eating, and hydration habits
  • Exercise habits
  • Study habits
  • Listening skills
  • Technology habits (phone, computer)
  • Are you being kind and offering grace?
  • How do you track homework assignments?
  • How do you manage stress?

We believe in cultivating a partnership between school and home because evaluating choices, showing resilience, and being a consistent and positive leader in and out of school takes a team effort. Our continued partnership is critical to the learning process. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. We are in this together.

Finally, if you would like a short and beautiful story to read that may impact your family for generations to come, I highly recommend Christmas Jars by Jason F. Wright. As a family, we started the Christmas Jar tradition, and it proved to be a beautiful, meaningful, and reciprocal experience. Merry Christmas!

Matthew 1:21:

Mentions that Mary will give birth to a son named Jesus, who will save his people from their sins.

Sincerely,

Jeff Cavallo
